With the badging API, installed web applications can define an application-wide badge that is displayed in an operating system-specific location that is assigned to the application (e.g. on the start screen).
Badging makes it easy to subtly inform the user of new activities that may require their attention, or to display a small amount of information, e.g. B. an unread number.
Badging are usually more user-friendly than notifications and can be updated at a much higher frequency because they do not interrupt the user. And because they don’t interrupt the user, they don’t need the user’s permission.
